James Alvin Harrer, 64, passed away on August 17, 2019. He was born on February 5, 1955 to Kenneth and Mary Jo Harrer in Lafayette, Indiana.
Jim was a very intelligent and family-oriented man. He grew up in West Lafayette, graduating from West Lafayette High School in 1973.  He attended Purdue University, graduating in 1977 with a degree in Business Management and was a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity.   Upon graduation, Jim worked as a general manager in the drug store industry for over 40 years, with his career moving him throughout 7 states in the Midwest, until his retirement from CVS in 2018.  Jim was a huge Purdue football fan. He and his wife had season tickets to their games for 19 years.  He also enjoyed genealogy and became a great resource and inspiration to his family and siblings. He was dedicated to sharing information he gathered with his family members, and authored a book which documented his family tree over generations and uncovered details of the lives of family ancestors.  He was particularly interested and focused on his West Lafayette ancestry which spanned over 5 generations.  Jim loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them.
