Jerry Waples

Jerry L. Waples, 78, passed away May 7th of pneumonia in Leesburg Regional Hospital. Jerry was born March 25, 1941 in Lafayette, IN., to his parents, Evelyn Summers Waples and Robert L. Waples. He is survived by his wife Ruth A. Waples, a daughter Lynann (Fidge) Kelm, and a son Russell (Rusty) Waples (Lori). He had 4 grandchildren, Ashley (Zak), Drew (Jessie), Brett, and Nick. He had one sister, Margo Meyers, and one brother, Max L. Waples who is deceased. He grew up in Remington, IN and West Lafayette, IN and attended high school at Klondike HS and West Lafayette HS, both in Indiana. He attended college at NE Missouri State, Kirksville, MO on a basketball scholarship. He also attended Purdue University, Butler University, both in IN, and University of Tulsa in OK. After college, he worked for Gulf Oil, Enterprise Products, and Tejas (Shell). He truly enjoyed his careers and the many friends that he made through the industry. He and Ruthie traveled extensively and moved several times, finally settling in The Villages, FL after living in Texas and Indiana. They attended New Life Christian Church in The Villages. In lieu of flowers, any memorial gifts may be made out to New Life Christian Church, 4701 E. Co Rd 462, Wildwood, FL 34785. A Celebration of Life will be held June 15th at Burnsed Recreation Facility in The Villages from 2-4pm.
