Shirley Fauber McTague, 89, of West Lafayette passed away peacefully at home Sunday, December 8, 2013. She was born October 1, 1924, in Lafayette to the late Dean and Hilda Pagett Fauber. Shirley graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1942 and Purdue University in 1947 with a degree in Civil Engineering.

On September 20, 1947 she married Jerome "Mick" McTague in Lafayette and he preceded her in death on October 13, 2010. Prior to her marriage to Mick, Shirley worked for the Milwaukee Railroad in the Bridge Deparment. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral where she was a member of the choir. Shirley was active member of the Lafayette community and served on the Board of Directors of the United Way, Past President of the Board of Directors of the YWCA and chaired the YWCA Building Drive. She served on the Governor's Commission on Water Resources and the Governor's Commission on Water Management. She served on the boards of Hanna Community Center, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette Museum of Art Foundation, Tippecanoe Arts Federation, Wabash Valley Trust for Historic Preservation, and Purdue National Bank. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and past president of the Realty Board. She served as secretary for the Purdue Alumni Association. She was awarded a Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Kernan. She was Chairman of the Board and CEO of Fauber Construction Co., Inc. She enjoyed playing golf, traveling with Mick, working in the garden, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children Maggie Smith (husband Dana) of West Lafayette, Mike McTague (wife Marilynn) of Lafayette, Mary Kay McDaniel (husband Bill) of Zionsville and Marty Pavlovich (husband Andy) of Leawood, KS. Also surviving are her grandchildren Laura Haniford, Emily Bauman, Sarah Baker, Sean McTague, Kelly McTague, Kyle McTague, Meghann Horn, Molly McDaniel, Maggy McDaniel, Tory Thornton, Drew Pavlovich, Claire Pavlovich, and 9 great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Fauber.

Visitation will be 3-6 PM Sunday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Visitation will also be 1 hour prior to a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at St. Mary Cathedral, Bishop William Higi and Fr. Jeff Martin officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute to the Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette or the YWCA Greater Lafayette Women's Shelter.
