Robert L. Mangus
92, of Lafayette, IN passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017.
Born on May 9, 1925 in Montgomery County, Indiana. His parents were the late Jacob and Ethel (Davidson) Mangus.
His marriage of 60 years was to Virginia Stidham on August 30, 1956 in Lafayette, IN. She survives.
Robert
graduated from West Lafayette High School and Purdue University. He
served in the U. S. Navy three years then worked in Venezuela, South
America for one year, Morocco, Africa for a year and Thule, Greenland
for six months before starting a 25 year career with Eli Lilly & Co.
in Lafayette.
His volunteering pursuits included the early Lafayette recycling service, CASA program, and Lafayette Crisis Center.
His hobbies included bicycling, tennis and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jacob and Henry, one sister, Marianna Thomas.
Surviving
with his wife are two daughters, Lisa Brooks (Jeff), Lynn Winters
(Robert), three grandsons, Jeremiah, Nathaniel, and Nicholas Winters and
five great-grandchildren.
There will be no memorial service as requested. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care.
