Mrs. Betty “Bobbi” Townsley passed away Sept. 13, 2016 at Witham Memorial Hospital.

Betty was born on Apr. 22, 1927, the daughter of the now late Robert and M. Luella (Royer) Dawkins. She was first married to E. Harris Jackson in Lafayette, IN. He was killed in action during WWII. She then married James Townsley, Jr. in West Lafayette, IN on Sept. 17, 1949. He died Nov. 29, 1993.

Betty was a 1944 graduate of West Lafayette High School. She graduated from DeForest DeVrie Electronics School in Chicago prior to Business College in Indianapolis where she learned IBM KeyPunch. She retired from Commercial Filters in 1992.

Betty was a member of Beta Sigma Phi in Lafayette and Dayton, OH and Trinity Lutheran Church and Women of the Elks in Lebanon. She enjoyed dancing, the history of old homes, played golf and bridge and was active with several card clubs, loved music, car racing and attending the General Hospital Reunion of WWII Vets.

Survivors include her son Robert Dawkins Townsley of Brownsburg and daughter Robin Townsley-Dulong of North Vernon, IN; grandchildren Jason Townsley of Eden Prairie, MN and Jenna Hacker of North Vernon, IN; great-grandchildren Jadon Hacker, Charlotte Hacker, and James Townsley.

Family and friends will gather Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 for visitation from 10 a.m. until time of services at 12 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Betty will be laid to rest at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. You are invited to visit the website www.strawmyerdrury.com where you may sign her online register and leave a personal message.
