Diana L. Schmiedicke, 73, of West Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. She was born July 30, 1945, in Mescalero, NM, to the late Alvin and Dorothy Goans Breitwieser. Diana graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1963 and Purdue University in 1967. Her marriage was to Paul Schmiedicke in 1967 and he preceded her in death in 2009.
Diana worked as a Bookkeeper for Berry's Camera Shop for several years before retiring. She cherished her time at her cottage on peaceful Bear Lake, Michigan, where she enjoyed jet skiing, exploring “2-rut” roads through the woods, golfing and playing cards with her grandsons. Diana and Paul also loved traveling to Longboat Key, FL during their retired years.
Surviving is her son James P. (Heather) Schmiedicke of Brownsburg, grandsons Kade and Carson Schmiedicke. She is also survived by her brother Eric Breitwieser of Tuscon, AZ, nephew Craig Breitwieser of Lafayette, Niece Traci Breitwieser Arek of Glendale, AZ and her best friend Carol Filmore of West Lafayette - the sister she never had.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of her service at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 18th at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West, West Lafayette, Pastor Denis Roy officiating. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy https://www.gtrlc.org/ in Diana’s memory.
