Mabra Jean George, 61, of Lafayette, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 2:20 p.m. at her residence.
Born to Martha Ann Metzger and the late Jay Arrington Denney on May 31, 1956 in Lafayette, Indiana. Mabra married her husband Eric R. George on December 30, 1989 in Lafayette, he survives.
Mabra graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1974. She graduated from Purdue University in 2013, received a bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality and 3 honorary degrees. Mabra attended Covenant Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed going on cruises and decorating for every holiday. Mabra was an avid gardener.
Professionally, Mabra was a chef at Purdue University JW Marriott building. Previously, had been a beautician at Debonair for 30 years and before that was known as a champion baton twirler.
In addition to her husband Eric, mother Martha, and brother Martin Denney, Mabra is survived by stepsons, Jamison and Ben Cronin.
She is preceded in death by her sister Kyle Jane, nephew Joshua George, grandparents Mary and Murle Denney, Effie Kissell, and Doctor Metzger.
In lieu of usual remembrances, direct memorial contributions to Community North Cancer Center (7979 North Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis, IN) or Lafayette Christian School.
