Mark Davis





Mark S. Davis, 63, of West Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Vincent Heart Center of Indianapolis. 

He was born on September 9, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri.  He graduated from West Lafayette H.S. and earned a law degree from IU.  He began his career working in economic development in Indianapolis, Greater Lafayette, and Flint, Michigan before finally opening an independent law practice in Lafayette.  His career highlights include helping to bring the Subaru plant to Lafayette, working on agreements with U.S. and Canada on the Blue Water Bridge that spans our two countries, and helping promote the Hoosier Heartland highway.

He enjoyed reading spy/military novels, jazz music, singing in the church choir and visiting grandchildren.  He was active in the Republican Party locally, and enjoyed verbal spars with people on a variety of topics.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Betty Davis, sister Rae, and brother Craig.  He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay, daughters Kristen (Edmundson), Nina (Sonnenberg), Catherine (Raquet), and Anna Davis, and eight grandchildren.

Memorial visitation will be held from 4-8 pm, Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Hippensteel Funeral Home.  Memorial Mass will be at 10 am, Friday, March 10, 2017 at Church of the Blessed Sacrament.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the West Lafayette Public Library Foundation (http://www.wlaf.lib.in.us).  Published in the Journal & Courier on Mar. 7, 2017
