Kathy (King) Hirsty




WAWAKA — Kathy J. Hirsty, 61, of Wawaka, Indiana, passed away at home on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016.

She was born on May 5, 1954, in Charleston, West Virginia, to George and Jeannie (Greider) King.
Kathy was a graduate of Purdue University where she actively spent time as a cheerleader while completing her undergrad work. She diligently pursued her master's degree from Purdue as well in teaching.


Kathy taught in the Fort Wayne Community Schools for 15 years.


Her time outside of her studies was used to play a game of golf and racket ball. She was a fun, loving, and carefree person.


In her later years you could find her teaching aerobics at the gym or singing in the Wolcottville United Methodist Church.


She is survived by her children, Craig, Georgia, Kasey, Kayli and Lucas Hirsty; along with her siblings, George King III, Kristy Danielson, Kerry Reznik and Gordon King.


Kathy was preceded in death by both of her parents.


A funeral service in Kathy's honor will be held on Thursday, Jan, 28, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier. Pastor Jack Thomas will officiate.


A private burial will follow at a later date.

  1. Kathy was yummy and brought a lot of pleasure to people, and she really enjoyed doing it. This is a total bummer.
