Donald Rehord




Donald William Rehard, age 81, of West Lafayette, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at his residence. He was born on January 8, 1930 in West Lafayette, to the late Roland and Retta Jessie (Dunlap) Rehard Nichols. Don graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1948, where he excelled in basketball, baseball and was Captain of the football team. Don was proud of having planted numerous trees in the Coshocton area while working as an arborist with Duren Nursery. He also worked at General Electric in Coshocton. He served in the United States Army National Guard for more than 30 years as a Sergeant and was stationed in Japan, Korea, and Germany. Don was a member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Newcomerstown, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member of the Moose, Knights of Columbus, VFW; he enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his four children, Sharon (Rehard) Binning of Martinez, GA, Karen Sue (Rehard) and Gary McNichols of Newcomerstown, Janice "Jesse" (Rehard) and Tim Erwin of Zolfo, FL, and Janet "Lee" (Rehard) Tapager of Pine Island, FL; two step-children, Diane (Unger) Ashcraft of West Lafayette and Christine (Unger) and Jonathan Ladrach of Coshocton; four grandchildren, Glenn "Bud" Ray II, Sheri and Rick McClurg, Stephanie Binning, and Chad Binning; three step-grandchildren, Samantha Ashcraft, Collin Ladrach, and Myleigh Ladrach; four great-grandchildren, Ashten Ray, Jensen Ray, Austin McClurg, and Carlie McClurg; aunt, Dorthea Rehard; two cousins, Cathy Evans and Nancy and Luigi Damasceno; brother-in-law, William and Donna Trenor; former wife, Barbara J. (Brinkerhoff) Rehard Jarvis and former wife, Joyce (Haas) Rehard Boone. Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (Trenor) Rehard who passed away on September 16, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father William Hritsko officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery with the Coshocton Veterans Council performing military honors. Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 from 5-8:00 pm at Given-Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton, with a Christian Wake Service starting at 7:45 pm and one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at the funeral home.
