Bill Conkright

Charles William ‘Bill’ Conkright 82 of Frankfort, IN, died February 22, 2010 at his home. Born December 17, 1927 in Lebanon, IN to Walter & Mary (Hayes) Conkright. He married Shirley Jean Feaster on August 7, 1949 in Lafayette, IN and she passed away on January 21, 2008. Mr. Conkright was a 1945 graduate of West Lafayette High School and lived in Lafayette and West Lafayette before moving to Frankfort in 1965. He was owner/operator of Conkright’s Sporting Goods and Conkright’s Wholesale Trophies, retiring on January 30, 1986. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served from January 1946 to January 1948. His memberships include; St. Matthew United Methodist Church and formerly Chairman on the Board of Trustees, Rotary, Frankfort Country Club where he was past President in 1983, former member of Moose Lodge and the American Legion, was formerly active in the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce where he was Chairman of Retail Division. Mr. Conkright was an avid golfer. 

Visitation and Services

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation will Thursday, February 25 from 4:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church, envelopes will be available.

2 sons: Gary (Marilyn) William Conkright of Naperville, IL and Jeffrey Lynn Conkright of Costa Rica 2 Brothers: Dick Conkright of Lafayette and John Conkright of Belleville, IL 3 Sisters: Jane Thompson of Lafayette, Sendy Etter of Fishers and Carol Higgs of Fishers 3 Grandchildren
