Bill Cole (Sr.)





 



William Ira "Bill" Cole, Sr., of Bloomington (formerly of Spencer and West Lafayette) passed away at 11am, Friday, April 11, 2014 at Bell Trace Health and Living Center and now is at rest in the loving arms of Jesus.

Bill was born in Linden, IN, on January 13, 1922 to Ira Cole, MD and Mabel M. (Biser) Cole. He was a 1940 graduate of West Lafayette High School and attended Purdue University for two years. He served in the Army Air Forces January 1942 - February 1946 as an airplane armorer. After military service Bill worked for Rostone Corporation (first in Lafayette and later in Spencer) for 35 years. Bill enjoyed travel, photography, gardening, reading, baking, and attending the Purdue-IU football games. He was a member of the Owen County Purdue Club. Bill was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church and served in various capacities over the years.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Cybil Cole of Bloomington, son, William I. (Maureen) Cole, Jr. of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Debi (Larry) Potalivo of Key West, FL, Ashley Cole (fiancé, Zac Fisher) of Indianapolis, and Whitney (Koji) Shimoi of Cincinnati, OH; a great grandson in Tampa, FL, nieces and nephews in Lafayette, IN and Ocala, FL, cousins in Williamsport, IN; and companion Anita Elsey of Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Cole and sister, Marjorie Sutter VanCamp.

Funeral services will be at 11 am, Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church, 2200 S. High St., Bloomington. The Rev. Eric J. Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm, Monday, April 14, 2014 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 N. Montgomery St., Spencer and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or Alzheimer's Association .
