Thom Regan

Thomas Regan, age 57 of Lafayette, died at home on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 of natural causes. Born in Hartford, CT on November 11, 1950, he was the son of Joseph and Irene Regan of Orlando, FL. He was a 1968 graduate of West Lafayette High School and a 1972 graduate of Purdue University in Forestry.

A thesis away from his Masters in Forestry Management at Purdue, Tom realized he was not "a suit"and preferred the freedom of being a self-employed carpenter and painter because it provided many opportunities to pursue his lifelong love of fishing and hunting with family and friends. Working mostly in Indiana, Tom also traveled throughout the country building and renovating homes and other buildings for family, friends and classmates. Tom was also a loving and devoted father to his children Eric (17) and Sarah (15).

He was a member of Elmwood Church of Christ and loved to debate religious philosophy in a Bible studies group with Reverend Gale Crowe.

Tom enriched the lives of many people with his humor and generous spirit. He is survived by his loving parents, a son, Eric Regan and a daughter, Sarah Regan both of Elkhart, IN, 2 adoring sisters, Kathleen Regan and Marlene Johnson (husband, Wade) both of Orlando, 4 devoted brothers, James Regan of Chino Hills, CA, William Regan of Monroe, WA, Joseph Regan, Jr. of Yellow Springs, OH, John Regan of Merrillville, IN, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many trusted and reliable friends, all of which at some time in their lives had the pleasure of fishing, hunting and working with him.

Tommy hung out the permanently gone fishing sign at the age of 57.
