Art Tinkle played tenor sax in the West Lafayette Dance Band and was the leader of that illustrious group when I saw him play at a dance in 1961. I don't believe I ever spoke to him, but his presence and image played a large role in convincing me to take up tenor sax and join the dance band in subsequent years. I honor his memory and his presence at WLHS, which influenced my life, and perhaps others, in unexpected ways. Bruce Scott, class of 1965
